Aus der Quelle? Aus den repos? Der einfachste Weg ist die Verwendung des repos: sudo yum install git sollte es tun. Kann es zunächst notwendig sein, einen zusätzlichen repo wie EPEL ersten, wenn git nicht durch den main-repos.

Wenn Sie CentOS gebaut yum repositories nicht zu haben scheinen git enthalten und als solche müssen Sie ein zusätzliches repository in das system. Für meine Server habe ich festgestellt, dass die Webtatic repository scheint auch halbwegs aktuell ist und die installation für git wird dann wie folgt sein:

# Add the repository
rpm -Uvh http://repo.webtatic.com/yum/centos/5/latest.rpm

# Install the latest version of git
yum install --enablerepo=webtatic git-all
```
Umgehen Missing Dependency: perl(Git) Fehler:
```
yum install --enablerepo=webtatic --disableexcludes=main  git-all

Nur die Aktualisierung dieses für 2017 und später, als CentOS 5 EOL erreicht hat und die URL für EPEL hat sich geändert:
